Tuscarora of the Cape Fear is a Precolonial Tribal Nation with a long rich history concentrated in and around Brunswick, Bladen, Columbus and Pender Counties, the Cape Fear Region. We have a dozen family names which dominate our area and can be found among other tribes in North Carolina as well. Many of the tribes of North Carolina are related by blood which is why we share names. These names are associated with common ancestors however all tribes are not Precolonial. Some of North Carolina's tribes were founded during the colonial era. The Tuscarora on the other hand is Precolonial. All of us are relatives.
